The Wasanii Project

Wasanii, a Swahili term meaning ‘local artist’ is a project that aims at achieving and showcasing the wide and diverse artistic talent around us.  The project intends to provide a platform for artists in the theater, music, film, arts and fashion industries to express themselves, share experiences and skills while nurturing raw talent. The platform also intends to provide facilities for the sale and distribution of products and services in this industry.  Our mission is to empower artist in various fields and preserve their precious talent for all to appreciate and enjoy.

 

Problem statement

Kenya is a country with a rich and vibrant cultural heritage.  We possess immense talent that needs to be nurtured and preserved for all to enjoy.  As Internet access grows rapidly everyday, there is a greater demand for localized content.  Currently, there is no clearly defined standardized portal dedicating to preserving and nurturing our local talent.  Wasanii intends to fill this gap.

 

Our Solution

Wasanii will combine the latest technology both Internet and mobile to deliver a web and mobile portal that addresses the challenge mentioned above.  It will create the largest digital achieve of Kenyan art right from the 1960’s.  The achieve will contain detailed autobiographies, sample works, photos, videos, interviews and other relevant digital materials required for nurturing and preserving talent.

  • Provide an incubation hub for raw talent and nurture them through the platform and relevant training.
  • Creating the largest online achieve of artists across all fields in Kenya.
  • Provide a single platform for promoting and marketing local talent.
  • Create the largest online directory and listings for businesses and artists related to the arts field in Kenya.
  • Develop the first unified platform that combines mobile, web and print mediums in promoting and nurturing talent.
  • Partner with relevant agencies in promoting Kenyan artists across the globe.
